Florida Department of Health in Monroe County

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe) recognizes the importance of adhering to public health accreditation board guidelines and maintain its accreditation status.

The department maintains a Strategic Plan and Performance Management Quality Improvement Plan (PMQI).

Strategic planning is recognized as important and the impact this process can have on shaping future outcomes. Continual process improvements including lessons learned have influenced the 2023-2028 DOH-Monroe Strategic Plan and is considered a living document.

The PMQI Plan aims to enhance outcomes through evidence-based decision-making, continuous learning, and performance improvement. It details the integration of quality improvement and performance management into staff training, leadership, planning, review processes, and services. The goals are to ensure ongoing organizational improvement and sustain a culture of quality, guided by tools like the NACCHO Roadmap to a Culture of Quality.

The Strategic Plan and PMQI Plans are be reviewed, evaluated and revised as needed based on available data, trend analyses, benchmarking and identified best practices. Monitoring and evaluation of these plans and of the plans objectives are the responsibility of the DOH-Monroe Performance Management Council (PMC) and DOH-Monroe Division Directors (DD). The plans are updated annually or as needed to ensure alignment with strategies and priorities of local, state and federal health plans.
