Healthy Start

Florida Department of Health in Monroe County

As of January 2025, Healthy Start services have been temporarily relocated to Bernstein Park at:
6751 5th St. Stock Island, FL 33040.

Healthy Start is a free program for all pregnant women and women with babies under age 3 that promotes education, referrals, and home visits.

Educational outreach areas include:

  • Childbirth
  • Parenting
  • Breastfeeding
  • Smoking cessation
  • Staying healthy between pregnancies.

In 2021, there were 696 births in Monroe County. The same year, Healthy Start made contact with 539 pregnant women and 417 babies across the Florida Keys. 

Appointments are strongly encouraged. To schedule an appointment, call 305-676-3841. Staff have Spanish and Creole language capability.
