Healthy Start is a free program for all pregnant women and women with babies under age 3 that promotes education, referrals and home visits. Educational outreach areas include: childbirth, parenting, breastfeeding, smoking cessation and staying healthy between pregnancies. In 2021 there were 696 births in Monroe County and that year Healthy Start made contact with 539 pregnant women and 417 babies across the Florida Keys. Staff have Spanish- and Creole-language capability.
Appointments strongly encouraged; call 305-676-3841 to schedule appointment. Walk-ins OK at Gato only; office is open 8am– 5pm.
