Mosquito Bite Protection for Residents and Visitors
In an effort to keep Monroe County, Florida residents and visitors safe and aware about the status of the Zika virus, the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County and the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District have information readily available for any group wishing to learn about the Zika virus. Mosquitoes spread viruses and parasites that cause diseases like chikungunya, dengue, Zika and malaria. Before you travel to areas where these diseases are found, talk to your health care provider about your health concerns, and ask about malaria prevention medicine. If you are pregnant and interested in getting tested for Zika in Monroe County, please call us Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to schedule an appointment: Lower Keys 305-619-0924; Middle Keys 305-289-2708; and Upper Keys 305-853-7400.
