HEALTH DEPARTMENT PUBLISHES STOCK ISLAND COMMUNITY HEALTH SURVEY RESULTS

(Monroe County, Fla.) — The Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe) today published the results of the 2022 Stock Island Community Health Survey.

The Stock Island Community Health Survey was conducted with grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to identify potential health disparities for Stock Island.  The survey was available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole and focused on the following social determinants of health: healthcare, housing, transportation, food & nutrition, and social opportunities.

DOH-Monroe started collecting survey responses on April 1, 2022 and closed the survey with 716 responses on September 20, 2022.

Jennifer Lefelar, Public Information Officer, DOH-Monroe is credited as principal investigator for the study.

Today, DOH-Monroe also announced a Stock Island Town Hall public meeting will be held from 5:30-7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in the second floor community room at Bernstein Park.  All are welcome to attend.  Data will be presented from the 2022 Stock Island Community Health Survey followed by an interactive discussion about Stock Island community needs.

“We are looking forward to presenting the data at the upcoming Stock Island Town Hall public meeting that we are co-hosting with Mayor Craig Cates,” said DOH-Monroe Administrator and Health Officer Dr. Carla Fry, PhD, MSN, RN.  “It took a lot of combined effort with our community partners to achieve the goal of 700 survey responses.  We look forward to learning more about the Stock Island community challenges from the results followed by the implementation of a collective effort to inspire positive change for this community.”

The full survey report can be found on DOH-Monroe’s web site and can be found with the following link:  https://monroe.floridahealth.gov/stockisland.  People can also RSVP for the Stock Island Town Hall public meeting with this link.
